If your house is like mine, then you probably have a lot of pencils and writing utensils around. You probably have not given much thought to those pencils when they get too short and you toss them in the trash. Sprout Pencils fix this situation in a very eco-friendly way. A high quality, cedar pencil with a seed capsule at the top, you can plant the too-short pencil stump after the pencil has been used, and watch a plant grow.

Each Sprout Pencil is labeled with the plant that it is seeded with. You can everything from basil, to sunflowers and even cherry tomato plants. The whole pencil stump can go right into the ground, according to planting instructions. Once the pencil and seed is exposed to moisture, the seed will begin to germinate. Water your seedling regularly and make sure it gets plenty of sunshine. Before long you'll have a plant of your very own! It will take about 2 to 3 weeks for your seedling to sprout and then 4-5 weeks before the herbs and such as ready to use.

Organic seeds are part of each pencil; five seeds at least in each. It is recommended that you plant your pencils outside for best results.
