Just a couple of months ago we welcomed Hug, a sweet little guinea pig, into our home. The search for the perfect cage was daunting before we brought Hug home because I wanted to make sure it was the perfect setup for a small animal. A lot of what I saw in the stores was very small and wouldn't have been ideal for a guinea pig, especially as they got older and bigger. In addition to the very large, two-story guinea pig cage we obtained for everyday use we also got a smaller cage that could be used in different rooms or for times when we needed to clean out the other cage. We opted for the Sunseed Guinea Pig Starter Kit.
I found out quickly that a very basic and simple cage is ideal for a guinea pig. These piggies make quite the mess out of their habitat and the more special features you have to clean up each changeover, the bigger headache you get. The Sunseed cage is a very basic wire cage with a plastic base that is easy to take apart and clean. You can wash off the wire portion as well as the base without damaging anything. The base comes in a variety of colors that you can choose from when ordering.
Along with the cage you also receive everything you would need when you are going to be adopting a guinea pig. In the Sunseed Guinea Pig Starter Kit you will get (Items may vary depending on where you are buying the starter kit):
-Water bottle (This was a nice sized, plastic bottle that comes with the attachment piece to hook it onto the cage)
-Food bowl (This also is a nice size. We did purchase another bowl however to use in addition to the included one. We keep hard food in one and fresh veggies and fruit go in the other).
-Chew Treat (The one that was in our kit hooks on to the bars and has a number of wooden shapes hanging from it). You can replace the toys when they become chewed down.
-Food (A good amount of food is included and could last a couple of weeks at least).
-Bedding (High quality bedding is included. It was very absorbent and comfortable for our guinea pig).
-Hay (High quality Timothy hay is included).
